Thandiswa Mazwai to perform in New York this Sunday

by Bongiwe Mati

South African multi-award-winning singer Thandiswa “King Ta” Mazwai can be counted among Mzansi’s music success stories.

Having started her music career at a young age with popular group Bhongo Maffin, the soulful singer became a favourite among many South Africans.

Thandiswa later went solo, releasing her first album Zabalaza which became an instant success. Albums such as Ibhokhwe and Belete soon followed.

The talent singer is currently in New York due to perform at GlobalFest. The GlobalFest is a “catalytic non-profit organisation for curators, artists and the performing arts field.” This annual event was founded in 2003.

Taking to social media to share the news late in December, the Ingoma hitmaker called upon her fans abroad to join her at the Lincoln Centre:

“Another ANNOUNCEMENT is that I’m playing at the Lincoln Centre in New York City on Jan 14th. Tell our cousins abroad that too. ☎️🔥.”
