Actress and socialite, Tebogo Thobejane sought for privacy following the arrest of her businessman and her ex boyfriend, Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala.

Vusimuzi recently made appearance at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, following his arrest on charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. It was revealed that the charges are related to an alleged plot to harm Tebogo; prompting her and her family to seek space and understanding to recover from what she described as a ‘traumatic experience’. Vusimuzi remains in custody pending bail, with his two co-accused; Musa Kekana and Tiego Floyd Mabusela.

Former Muvhango actor, released a public statement where she revealed that the court appearance has opened old wounds.

“We are still carrying the weight of what happened – living with the emotional impact and ongoing effects of post-traumatic stress syndrome. I kindly ask for privacy and understanding as my family and I continue to heal from a deeply traumatic experience,” read the statement.

“One of the hardest parts of this entire experience has been facing the people who were with me that night – the ones who were hurt alongside me. I’ve had to find the strength to express my sorrow to their families and live with the pain that they were affected because of a situation tied to me.

“What saddens me most is that life expects us to continue, to move forward, even when we are broken inside. But I am doing my best, one day at a time, to find peace and rebuild,” she penned.

According to Drum magazine, Tebogo was with a friend and her driver driving from Saints Champagne Lounge in Sandton, when three gunmen opened fire on them. While she escaped unscathed, her friend was left wheelchair-bound in October 2023.
