Nearly 10 months after the tragic passing of her only child, celebrity chef Tabello ‘Tibz’ Motoane’s mother, Ryhab Niniwe, passed away.

A family spokesperson told news publication News24 that Ryhab died a week ago on 5 October 2023. The family had a memorial service in remembrance of the life she lived this past weekend, and she was later cremated on Tuesday.

The news comes less than a month after police commissioner Bheki Cele said that they were close to solving the case involving her son’s murder.

According to ZiMoja, Ryhab’s health started deteriorating after losing her son, and occasionally visited the local hospital. This ultimately resulted in her passing.

“You can imagine the void she left after he was brutally murdered … her health took a dive. She has been reunited with her beloved son. It is sad for us as friends and family,” a relative stated.

Last month, KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkwanazi confirmed that they were making steady progress in solving the murder which took place at the Wish restaurant in Florida Road, Durban.

He further revealed that the investigators were successful in finding the murder weapon as well as identifying the vehicles used. However, despite the incident occurring 10 months ago, no one has been arrested.

At the time of his passing, the family was moved by the outpours of support received from the public. Tabello was remembered as someone who was loved and who gave love to all who found themselves in his presence.
