Legendary musician and member of Bongo Maffin group, Tshepo Seate popularly known as Stoan, has recently signaled that he is coming back in the music scene after a 20-year hiatus.

The kwaito star hailing from North West’s musical spark was ignited by a near death experience that took place at the beginning of the year, where a gas tank exploded and injured him. This horrific experience prompted him to release a single he named Ga Se Pula featuring Mhaw Keys.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Stoan said, “It’s a story of an accident and the subsequent victory over pain that I had when I had an accident on New Year’s Eve, gas explosion, I got burnt.

“I got second and third degree burns on my arm, hands and my face. It sparked me to get into music again, and I haven’t released a song for almost 20-years as a solo,” he said.

Stoan told the publication that he plans to release singles throughout the year leading up to his birthday in 2025.

“Right now it’s about music moving towards 50 years next year on the 9th of May, and it’s about bringing back the music and storytelling, but at the same time we matured other work that we are doing around. On my birthday, I’m dropping the album. It’s going to be on Friday. Just the fact that my 50th is on Friday is poetic for me, and I have to make sure it has been a great event,” said Stoan.

Speaking on Vow FM about his music, in a video he shared on his Instagram page. The artist said he infused Amapiano to his songs, he said it’s best to work with young creatives and finding fresh sounds.
