Fans planning to attend the eagerly anticipated Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are in for a treat as organisers of the event announced a star-studded line-up for the pre-show.

What better way to get match-ready than by indulging in all the fun-filled entertainment offered at the Orlando stadium this weekend? To ensure that fans get the full experience of the five-decade-long rivalry several big names are scheduled to take the stage for an amazing afternoon of entertainment.

This comes as Bertie Grobbelaar, CEO of Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) recently announced that they have partnered with brewing company Carling Black Label to bring one of the best stadium experiences to the fans in the form of a beer garden.

This has been done to ensure a seamless commuting experience. “By encouraging spectators to arrive early, we aim to reduce congestion on the roads and ease access into the stadium, making match day safer and more enjoyable for everyone,” he adds. Meanwhile, the day will feature a line-up of several prominent names in the local music industry such as DBN Gogo, Muzi, as well as Stopper who are keen to ensure that supporters are filled with all the energy they will need ahead of the match.

According to IOL, the festivities are set to start at 12h15 and conclude at 14h30 ahead of the kickoff whistle.

Despite being positioned at #2 and #5 on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) log, the Soweto derby continues to be one of South Africa’s biggest football attractions, and fans will no doubt be looking to get a firsthand glimpse of the action and earn bragging rights as Soweto’s best.
