Springboks Cheslin and Malcolm make the most of the Easter break with family

The past Easter weekend celebrated family, and very few people know how important family time is than our men who run out in the green and gold colours of the national rugby team, the Springboks.

These athletes often spend several weeks away from home while touring the world for both club and country. This usually means missing out on important milestones, such as seeing their kids learning to speak, or even their first day of school.

Despite their demanding schedule, two of our most loved performers, Cheslin Kolbe and Malcolm Marx, have taken it upon themselves to trade the action of the rugby field for some adventure with the family.

The duo is both currently based in Japan, with Cheslin plying his trade at Suntory Sungoliath and Malcolm at Kobota Spears. The two were briefly reunited earlier this month as their teams went head-to-head in League One.

While the day was played in wet conditions, the duo now gladly opted to enjoy a bit of sunshine instead.

Cheslin recently touched down in Cape Town, where he was warmly welcomed by his wife Layla and their three kids. The family later travelled to the winelands, where they enjoyed some family time together while attending a church service.

Malcolm also made the most of his off-time. He and his family visited the subtropical Japanese Island of Okinawa, where they explored the crystal clear beaches.

Both players form an important part of Rassie’s team structures, and are both in contention to represent the country at the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
