Showmax Original reality TV series Sports Wives stars reveal that they got paid R15,000 for shooting the series.

The reality TV series follows the wives and ex-girlfriends of South Africa’s most prominent sports figures.

As reported by the Sunday World publication, Sports Wives reality stars Tsholofelo Makgalemele-Mbane and Christa Kgamphe-Jane went on the Own Narrative Podcast with Promise Makunyane where they disclosed the amount they were paid.

The reality stars who both married players from the national women soccer team Banyana Banyana stated that the Sports Wives production team paid cast member R15,000 which was for petrol.

During the interview on the podcast, Tsholofelo who is married to Bambani Mbane stated that the production team of the reality series made her parents look like they were bad people.

She said,“But because they [the production] wanted drama, that’s when they shifted the focus to look like I come from a broken family.”

Tsoholfelo added that the show made it seem like her mother didn’t expect her sexuality when in reality her mother was only trying to understand the situation

Christa who is married to Refiloe Jane expressed that it was easier for her to tell her family about her same sex relationship with the soccer player.

She explained that her dad knew that her partner was a woman, adding that he was confused in the beginning as he didn’t know what to refer to her as.

“He embraced me, but sometimes I feel like he was overcompensating because he did not raise me.With my mom, it was a fight because when I finally sat down with her, she said she thought we were best friends and was worried about what people would say.”
