Sihle Ntuli, a South African poet and classicist shines on the global literary scene with his extraordinary talent, which was acknowledged when he took first place in the 2024 Patricia Kailis Fellowship writing competition.

Sihle is originally from Durban and holds a Master of Arts in Classical Civilizations and was formerly a professor at the University of the Free State. He has achieved notable success in the literary world. He has written two poetry books: Rumblin, which uHlanga published in 2020, and Zabalaza Republic, which Botsotso published in 2023.

Speaking to the news publication IOL, the poet said: “It means a lot to be able to represent my country on the world stage of literature, to have been the only African on the shortlist and to end up winning the whole thing is a big highlight of my poetry journey thus far, I am looking forward to heading to Australia for the fellowship.”
