Veteran South African actress Sonia Mbele has addressed claims that recently surfaced online linking her name to alleged muthi-related accusations.

The former Generations star has reportedly denied the claims, distancing herself from the narrative that began circulating on social media. According to reports, Mbele made it clear that she does not support or associate herself with the allegations attributed to her.

Allegations spread online

The claims began making rounds on digital platforms, quickly drawing attention due to the seriousness of the subject matter. While details of the original source of the allegations remain unclear, Mbele’s reported response has focused on firmly rejecting any connection to the muthi claims.

In South Africa, discussions around muthi are complex and culturally sensitive. Traditional healing practices form part of many communities’ heritage, but when such topics intersect with celebrity headlines, they often spark intense curiosity and scrutiny.

A long-standing public figure

Sonia Mbele has been part of South Africa’s entertainment industry for decades. She rose to prominence through her role on Generations, becoming a familiar face in households across the country. Over the years, she has also worked behind the scenes as a producer, further cementing her place in local television.

That longevity means her name carries recognition, and with that recognition often comes public attention whenever controversy arises.
