Media personality Somizi Mhlongo has set the record straight after he found himself linked by media reports to a company that is in trouble with the law.
Sunday World published a story titled “Somizi Mhlongo’s company vanishes as the sheriff comes knocking”, prompting Somizi to issue a statement on his Instagram page denouncing the claims.
Taking to his social media page, he said: “I would like to clearly state that the company referred to in the article does not belong to me, has never been registered under my name, and I have no association with it whatsoever.”
Somizi further shared that the claims are misleading and false.
“It’s deeply concerning that such misinformation is published without proper verification. It has the potential to harm reputations and mislead the public.
“I urge the media outlets to uphold the principles of accuracy and accountability when reporting,” he added.

According to the publication, the former Idols SA judge was being pursued by the sheriff of the court after his alleged company, Search Light (Pty) Ltd, failed to pay employees their salaries.
The publication also reported that Somizi and his partners unfairly dismissed several employees. The company allegedly failed to follow due processes, and it was added that documents were seen which list Somizi and Lindo Maleho as directors of Search Light (Pty) Ltd. – a cleaning services company that supplied staff to Transnet at Carlton Centre.
