Something is off: Internet users unsure about Kenny Kunene’s story

by Silindokuhle Booi

South African politician and Patriotic Alliance deputy president Kenny Kunene, is currently facing controversy over his visit to the home of Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe, a suspect in the murder case of the late DJ Sumbody.

The Patriotic Alliance has placed Kunene on 30-day special leave while a legal team investigates the matter. His visit to Molefe’s home has sparked questions about his judgment and potential conflict of interest.

He claimed that he was at Molefe’s house for journalistic reasons, facilitating an interview for his online news outlet. However, critics are questioning his judgment, and the Democratic Alliance in Gauteng is demanding that he step down or be fired from his role as Transport MMC in the City of Johannesburg.

The investigation is ongoing, and the public remains divided over whether the incident is a political setup or a serious lapse in judgment from Kunene. More details are expected to surface as the 30-day investigation unfolds.

Naturally, his presence at Molefe’s home and his explanation thereof has gotten fingers typing and tongues wagging.

Some internet users questioned why no one has interviewed the journalist he was transporting:

“I was transporting a journalist to interview him (Katiso Molefe)”

How come there is no report of police also questioning the “journalist” that Kenny Kunene was transporting nor any report BY said journalist about the raid that happened while he was there? pic.twitter.com/z46nPdIDeD

We need a week off to just focus on South Africa 🇿🇦 who is the journalist that went to that house with Kenny Kunene?

Media personality Sol Phenduka also weighed in, mentioning that it is rare for someone who had been implicated in previous crimes to welcome the media in his home for an interview.

So this guy been involved internationally with drugs decades ago even BBC reports .

According to @News24 the man lives in SANDHURST .

Bra Kenny Kunene managed to help a young journalist secure an interview with a whole tycoon who lives behind very high walls of SANDHURST… https://t.co/bznWHhCzMj pic.twitter.com/fyDq3LDziT

Another user also expressed their suspicion that Kunene is guilty of something.

Kenny Kunene should never have done this interview on eNCA. Massive !!!!!
He is definitely guilty of something… not sure what… but something pic.twitter.com/4sEAd9mvcS
