Podcast and Chill with MacG co-host and radio presenter Sol Phenduka shared why he won’t be casting his vote in the upcoming elections.

Taking to his X (previously known as Twitter) the radio presenter stated that due to him not being able to collect ID at Home Affairs because of connectivity issues he won’t be able to cast his vote on Election day.

The upcoming elections allow for South African citizens to vote for a new government and according to the IEC, you need a South African ID which is either the green barcode book or the smartcard.

Temporary IDs also work in cases of wanting to vote but need to be paid for.

He posted a picture at Home Affairs with the caption, “I’m at Home Affairs. One of the workers here has told me that their collections system has been down since last week. In a nutshell, people can’t collect IDs. Those who can afford a temporary ID and the photo that goes on it can utilise that option. The rest. Tough luck. Can’t vote.”

Home Affairs also announced that they will be open on the day of elections for anyone wanting to collect or apply for relevant documents.
