After DJ Karri documented himself providing assistance to Alostro on his journey to rehab, the deejay received some criticism, with even radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo adding his thoughts on the matter.

During the week, DJ Karri (whose real name is Karabo Mokgara) shared a few videos on social media of himself meeting up with and lending a helping hand to Alostro (born Mahau Loius), a homeless man who gained popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. The deejay bought Alostro new clothes, took him to the dentist and even got in touch with Alostro’s family member ahead of the internet star’s trip to a rehabilitation centre.

“We are looking for a family member of Alostro to give us permission for him to go to rehab and sign the documents upon his arrival,” said the deejay in one of his posts.

DJ Karri and his team finally met up with Alostro’s aunt and added the documented meeting on social media.

The video was met with criticism by one X (formerly Twitter) user who boldly responded, “I need you and your peers to please stop force-feeding us amapara and documenting it. What do you want us to say? Give you a medal or what? Sidiniwe.”

Seeing the post, Sizwe – someone who does not shy away from speaking his mind – also shared his thoughts on the tweet. Noting that one cannot be forced to go to rehab as it is a personal decision, the radio personality added, “[He] will be back on the streets as soon as it’s popping again. He’s just planning ahead for the winter.”
