We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, that whoever was awarded the tender for celebrity relationships has something against our favourite stars as we have seen several breakups this year alone. In a surprising turn of events, Rachel and Siya Kolisi have announced that they have ended their marriage.

The Springbok players have garnered a reputation for the strong family values they hold, both individually and as a team as well and Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is no different. The love story of Siya and Rachel began in 2012 when the captain was instantly smitten by Rachel.

“It was scary. I asked her to lunch, and that’s when I told her. She played hard to get in the beginning but eventually admitted it as well. The rest is history.” he told News24

In a joint post on Instagram, the couple shocked the country with news that even the best psychic could not predict. In the post, Siya and Rachel reveal that they have amicably decided to put an end to their marriage and although it was a difficult decision and process, they have remained good friends and remain amicable for the sake of their children especially.

“While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they have always known. We will also continue to work on the foundation that means so much to us.”

Although the news comes as a complete surprise, one can’t help but wonder whether an incident on X (formerly Twitter) where one user referred to Siya Kolisi as ‘The biggest DMer of note in South Africa’ added fuel to an already burning situation in the Kolisi household. The user later issued a public apology to the Springbok captain for the defamatory statement.
