Actress and DJ, Mpume ‘Six’ Nyamane recently shared her excitement over the character she will portray on the new Mzansi Wethu telenovela, Homecoming.
Six, who recently left SABC 1’s soapie, Generations: The Legacy will embody the character of Dr Ntombizethu Zethu Hlongwane, a 28-year-old woman, born in the small village of Okhambeni in Bergville.
She will star alongside fan favourites such as Thembinkosi Mthembu, Khayalethu Xaba and Sipho Manzini.
Set in the rural town of Bergville, the telenovela follows Zethu Hlongwane, a straight-A medical graduate hoping to become one of the country’s few black female surgeons.
However, when things don’t turn out how she had hoped, with no job or placement, she is forced to return to the village she left behind. There, she finds herself at the crossroads of two worlds, that of Western medicine and traditional healing, when she meets Sifiso Kubheka. The police officer and traditional healer challenges everything she thought she knew about love, healing and home.
Speaking to Daily Sun about her character, Six said: “I feel absolutely stoked. I have never led on a telenovela before, and I believe this role came at the right time. Two and a half years on a soapie was the perfect warm up. I couldn’t be more ready.”
The first episode of Homecoming will air on July 28.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress shared how her character looked like and a trailer of the telenovela produced by Tshedza Pictures and Lulu Hela.
