Siv Ngesi equates zebra killing video to SA women

South African comedian Siv Ngesi entertains audiences through his comedy, MCing and his social media presence but his latest post has taken Mzansi by surprise.

Siv took to Instagram and posted a video of a herd of zebras crossing a river. As the zebras cross, a lone zebra gets stuck in the crosshairs of two crocodiles who are eyeing their prey.

They immediately start attacking the lone zebra, which is left behind by the rest of the herd that flee for safety.

Bizarrely, Siv then compared the zebra to women in South Africa.

“(Not an easy watch) Being a woman in South Africa is just like this!” he said.

Many felt the video, along with the caption, to be in poor taste and questioned why Siv would use that analogy to women. Some noted that it was highly sensitive footage while others saw the point he was trying to make and supported him.

“This is traumatizing to watch * sensitive content,” said one follower who disagreed.

“The others passing by are men, they never see nothing,” said one who supported Siv’s comments.

“Nature and human nature are two different things. I get the analogy but sometimes your post lingers on reaching for clout tho.” commented another follower.

According to The Citizen, Siv replied to the comment saying, footage of a zebra being attacked was no more sensitive than women getting murdered in SA.

SA’s crime stats showed 895 women were killed between April and June this year, with an increase of 40 counts more in terms of murders of women, 238 counts more of attempted murders, and 1 138 in terms of assault GBH.
