‘Shoot more kicks’ – Coconut Kelz sends message to the Springboks

South Africa’s beloved satirical character Coconut Kelz (created by media personality Lesego Thlabi) shared a few words of wisdom for the Springboks ahead of their match against New Zealand’s All Blacks this Saturday.

Lesego, who is pursuing her Masters degree in Paris, previously shared with BONA that she created the character as a way to express herself comedically regarding South African politics.

Still adding a bit of politics in sport, Kelz took to Instagram to do a “young catch-up before the finals” prior to sending the three-time Rugby World Cup winners a message of support.

“…I was minding my own business and then uit die blou van onse collective hemel, there go the British causing k*k. No man. How’s that one oke [Tom Curry] lying and crying on us… Anyway, loadshedding and racism are only suspended for a few more days and then, just like with Eskom, it’s back to cursing the darkness on Monday morning.”

Ending the video off with advice and encouragement, Kelz stated, “Just a message to the boytjies in groen en goud (boys in green and gold): Please guys, let’s score more tackles and shoot more kicks way, way earlier in the game! And you know me hey, usually I’m on the white kant (side) but just for one more weekend, I support the All Blacks, and by that I mean Siya Kolisi and Bongi Mbonambi.”
