Shock: Connie Ferguson gets a call from scammer pretending to be her

by Sergio Miller

Renowned actress, producer and businesswoman Connie Ferguson has recently warned her followers to be extra vigilant when interacting with strangers on social media platforms.

This comes after the former Generations: The Legacy actress encountered a scam conducted by someone pretending to be her.

In a recent Instagram post, the 55-year-old mother of two took to the social media platform, sharing a gallery of pictures and videos that showed an interaction between her and a scammer via WhatsApp.

An image showed an unknown number reaching out to her via WhatsApp asking her how she was doing. Ironically, the reference revealed that the individual’s name was “Connie Ferguson”. However, it was not until she did a follow-up on True Caller that the true identity of the person was revealed as ‘Madonsela’.

Shocked by the unexpected scenario, they quickly did a video call. It was here that she was certain that this was a scam. This came as the scammer used an old video made by the actress following a vigorous workout session to persuade her that she was indeed “Connie”, perhaps being unaware that she was speaking to the real Connie.

Following the disturbing interaction, she wrote:

“I think the moral of the story here is very clear and self-explanatory!”

“Scammers are doing the most! Be vigilant! I DO NOT offer any investment opportunity in business! Thieves are using AI now to convince you that they are whoever they say they are!”

“Do not easily part with the money you worked so hard for! If it’s too good to be true, it usually is! Have you never asked yourself why they are the ones who always have to call you and you can’t call them back? Don’t be manipulated into losing your common sense because times are hard.”
