Musical hitmaker Scotts Maphuma has gone viral once again for his attitude after a video of his interaction with a reporter took flight. While some people viewed it as negative, others laughed it off and defended the star’s actions.

The Scotts Maphuma video in question
Scotts, no stranger to controversy, entertained the masses at Wonder Market in Pretoria, stepping off the stage presumably after his set. Waiting for him at the end of the steps was a reporter from The Grooviest Corner, ready to interview Scotts. As soon as the woman greeted him, Scotts immediately stopped her and slowly walked away.
The reluctant DJ eventually stopped and received a framed portrait of himself, even showing hesitancy when asked how he was. The reporter at least got one response from him when she asked her only question, which was nonchalant yet comical.
The video was uploaded on Instagram on 2 August 2026, but was later shared on X. On the former social media platform’s comment section, Scotts replied with laughter and love, “The Grooviest Corner. I must buy ya’ll something la bereka shame.”

X user @busiwe_bubu, who reshared the video on the platform, wasn’t a fan of what they saw on their screen and captioned the post with the claim, “Scotts Maphuma has a nasty attitude.”
Some people online sided with the social media user; however, many others came to Scotts’ rescue and pointed out his humour.
“He has an attitude yena… but here he’s just jokingly running away from being interviewed,” stated @Kat_let_g0.
@Luella7335433 told the online community, “It’s his personality. This is exactly who he is to everyone. We’ve seen this type in SA many times. Guys, relax.”
@IrepTriplep laughed and shared, “Scotts doesn’t need to be nice anymore. He’s still getting bookings without the love.”
“He always trends for his ego,” pointed out @lee_mlam.
An unimpressed @Langelihle1129 commented, “How can we uncelebrity him?”
