The taxman has recently knocked on the controversial Malawian televangelist and prophet, Shepherd Bushiri’s door following his hefty bill from the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
According to news publication, Sunday World reported that SARS recently slapped the prophet’s Christian channel called the Prophetic Channel with a bill of over R100 million for unpaid taxes.
According to reports from the South African, SARS issued the first letter of demand in May last year, where they demanded R17 million from the televangelist’s channel. In another letter of demand from January, the taxman requested that the channel pay R69 million and over R25 million in a different letter sent in the same month.
The Prophetic Channel’s debt allegedly includes unpaid company tax, value-added tax, administrative penalties, skills development levy (SDL), and unemployment insurance fund (UIF).
As per reports by The South African, the letters issued to the Prophet read: “A civil judgment is being entered against you, in which case a warrant of execution may be issued for the sheriff of the court to attach and settle your assets.”

I’m tired of these snake oil salesmen. The prosperity gospel detracts from the true essence of what Christ stood for. There are too many prophets profiting from people’s misery.

Why is it still airing anyway? So at DStv is funding a fugitive, channel should have closed like they did ANN7
