Businesswoman, author and reality TV star Shauwn Mkhize is reportedly in trouble with SARS once again over R37 million owed in outstanding taxes.
This is not the first time Shauwn has been in trouble with revenue services. In 2013, Shauwn’s assets were seized by the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) over a dispute with SARS.
Speaking with SABC news, Shauwn who was said to owe SARS over R200 million shared, “I will fight, even if it means I have to sell the teaspoon in my house, I will do that.”
Shauwn’s latest tax woes were reported by local news publication The Citizen, which shared that the grandmother of four owes R37 million in taxes for luxury cars.
According to the publication, SARS filed an application for the seizure of 13 luxury cars belonging to two entities that the Kwa Mam’Mkhize reality TV star has major shares in.
It is further said that the revenue services have applied to the court for permission to auction the luxury cars to recover the tax owed. The cars are said to be delivered to the AFU in seven days.
If the application is granted, the publication counts the Rolls Royce and Lamborghini among the 13 cars to be auctioned.
The millions owed by companies linked to the reality star are just an added part of her tax woes, as the publication adds that she also owes R12 million in personal taxes.
Earlier this year, Shauwn was invited by Carte Blanche for an interview on matters relating to her tax allegations which date back to 2005.
Denying that she had a judgement in 2005, where her company was found guilty of tax evasion, Shauwn said she was just a young lady working super hard for her money.
She added, “Why can’t people see me as a young black woman, who has worked very hard, who has pushed boundaries, who has opened doors and broken the walls?”
