SABC1 launches new telenovela ‘Amalanga Awafani’

SABC 1 recently gathered crowds in KwaZulu- Natal, in the launch of its brand new telenovela, Amalanga Awafani.

Produced by Stained Glass productions, known for their great work on Uzalo and The Wife; Amalanga Awafani will assume Skeem Saam‘s previous time slot, 18h30 from the 28th of April.

The new telenovela promises a gripping storyline that will leave viewers intrigued and on the edge of their seats, as it is set against a backdrop of new found riches, choices and desires, it follows the story of twins Sabelo and Thembi who’s lives take a dramatic turn after finding a winning lotto ticket.  However, fortune brings challenges and hidden agendas; mzansi will be at the front seat in witnessing how the pair will navigate their lives after sudden riches.

Amalanga Awafani boasts with a star-studded cast that includes Nonsikelelo Mthiyane, Fanele Zulu, Sthandwa Nzuza, Melusi Yeni and Velile Makhoba among others.

During the launch, entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share a clip of head writer, Busisiwe Matonsi explaining the concept behind Amalanga Awafani.
