Social media was set ablaze by reports that Metro FM hosts Lootlove and DJ Lamiez Holworthy were suspended for attending ANC rallies before the much-anticipated 2024 elections.

Controversial entertainment reporter Musa Khawula shared the claim on X, formerly Twitter.

Netizens were left divided about the claim regarding the two celebrated presenters.

@mabasotf asked: “What happened to freedom of association?

And @T_Batsoo responded: “Metro FM isn’t for ANC listeners only… I won’t turn into a radio showing knowing the host is associated with the ANC. Period!”

The back and forth continued on the post, and the SABC sought to clarify the accusation.

Had the ANC won the elections outright, there wouldn’t be suspended.

The public broadcaster’s Acting Group Executive: Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Mmoni Seapolelo said in a statement on Monday: “The SABC can confirm that Metro FM presenter Luthando ‘Lootlove’ Shosha has been taken off air (unscheduled) from her programme but will be back on air today.

“The SABC is not at liberty to go into details of the matter involving the individual, except to say that hosting political rallies or publicly associating with political parties is against the SABC’s editorial policy, which is a public document.”

Mmoni added that Lamiez Holworthy had not been suspended or unscheduled.

Lootlove, real name Luthando Shosha, returned to Metro FM on April 1. She rose to fame after winning the SABC Live talent search in 2012.

Lamiez is a businesswoman and record producer who has been the official Miss South Africa DJ for two years.
