Residents in parts of the Western Cape have been warned of an impending cold front that’s set to hit the city on Thursday into next week, with damaging winds set for parts of the city.
According to the South African Weather Services (SAWS), the issued a level 1 yellow warning in parts of the Western Cape, including Cape Town and Cape Point. Strong winds already hit the city on Thursday and is expected to continue into next week, IOL reported.
SAWS warned that the strong winds may lead to difficulty in navigating at sea and it foresees that there will be disruptions to beachfront activities and small harbours.
The weather service said a passage of a cold front is expected with strong surface winds of 50km/h gusting up to 74km/h are expected.

According to The Citizen, Eskom said the weather may affect electricity supply in areas such as Eersterivier and Worcester. The power utility has deployed technical response teams to conduct investigations onsite and to conduct repairs to the damaged infrastructure.
“We encourage the affected customers to report any electricity supply interruptions as the inclement weather continues to persist.”
“The inclement weather can affect electricity restoration time, leading to prolonged periods without supply.” Eskom said.
The damaging winds are expected to affect the eastern and southern parts of Northern Cape, the south-western parts of the Free State, the north-eastern parts of the Western Cape as well as the north-western parts of the Eastern Cape.
