Former Springboks captain Siya Kolisi joins the ranks of TIME100 for 2024, marking his influential impact on the global stage.

For those who are unaware, TIME100 compiles a prestigious list of the 100 most influential individuals worldwide, serving as a benchmark for global impact and recognition.

There have been speculations among Racing 92 fans, supporters of the French team Siya plays for, suggesting that he should be removed from the team after he allegedly spent more than 20 minutes on the field without touching the ball. This happened after Siya had been officially removed as the Springboks captain.

Some South Africans took to social media platforms to fight for Siya, while others said he should come home if he was going to be treated like a nobody.

Taking to Instagram, Siya shared a post and, in his caption, he wrote, “Being named to the 2024 #TIME100 list is an incredible honour, one that deeply humbles me. It’s a profound responsibility to stand alongside individuals who dedicate their lives to enriching others.”

“This recognition isn’t just for me; it reflects the numerous individuals and communities who have poured into me and shaped me to be person I am and am becoming,” he added.

Concluding his post, he expressed his gratitude to TIME100 for constantly highlighting the importance of compassion and service in the world, “I look forward to getting my hands on the TIME100 issue when it’s released on Friday.”
