Troubles seem to be mounting for the Royal AM football club, fondly called by its supporters Twihli-Twahla, as they face being expelled from the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The Durban-based soccer team is owned by businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize, who is currently embroiled in a R40 million tax debt with the South African Revenue Services (SARS).
The news were shared via email to chairpersons, Chief Executive officers (CEO) and all the members of the clubs of National Soccer League (NSL), where it was stated that they recommend for Royal AM FC’s PSL membership to be cancelled because the team is unable to fulfil its obligations to the League, it has misrepresented material information to the League in its renewal application submitted on the 1st of July 2024 and has transferred shares contrary to the provisions of article 14.6 of the NSL constitution.
Twihli-Twahla’s pending expulsion means the League will be finished with 15 teams, and all their results will be voided from this season’s record.

As the team was placed under SARS curatorship and later on auction in efforts to pay back Shauwn’s tax debt, unfortunately, the winning bidder, businessman Chockalingham ‘Roy’ Moodley, failed the SARS vetting process, leading to his bid being nullified.
The football club has seen a lot this season, from lacking funds to pay their staff members and players to later being removed from the Nedbank Cup and the sale of the club.
