Singer and daughter of the late Winnie Khumalo, Rethabile Khumalo has recently shared that she made a dream she shared with her mother a reality, by opening her mobile kitchen.

She named her food join RK Food, and it is operational in Protea Glen, Soweto. Rethabile shared with Daily Sun that the business is close to her heart because she shared the dream and idea with her mother. The pair had plans to open a food business after Covid-19 lockdown, because they were both passionate about food. However, Winnie passed away at the age of 51, after a short illness before they could realise their dream.

The Ntyilo Ntyilo hitmaker bravely pushed forward with the dream and in honour of her beloved mother. Speaking to the publication she said: ” Firstly, my mom and I have always spoken about opening a little restaurant and unfortunately things happened. I thought we should live up to what we had planned. I’m sure she is proud.

“We both loved food. She loved cooking I feel very much connected to her. I’m still using her things, her kitchen, so it feels like she is still with me,” she said.

Winnie was a renowned South African pop-star and actress with a career spanning decades, she was known for hits like Yile Gqom and Live Your Life.

Rethabile reckons that her burgers have a unique flare, and are different from others.

“What makes us special is that our burgers have eggs, most burgers don’t. An egg adds what a burger needs. Also here, ekasi there aren’t a lot of people who sell burgers,” she told the publication.

The Umlilo singer took to her Instagram Page to announce that her mobile kitchen is open.
