June Steenkamp, mother of the deceased model Reeva Steenkamp, is in dire need of financial assistance after suffering a stroke.
In a post shared by the Reeva Steenkamp Foundation, it was revealed that the mother of the late Island of Treasure contestant suffered an unexpected stroke on Monday, first of September.
June has since received medical treatment from a local government hospital, but is still in need of financial assistance to help cover rehabilitation costs.
“She is facing a long road to recovery and needs considerable rehabilitation. To ensure June gets the necessary care and treatment, a fund has been set up for her care and rehabilitation,” wrote a representative of the foundation.
They added, “All payments will be approved by two independent attorneys and will be audited. Should the fund not be used post-rehabilitation, it will be donated to the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation to continue its mission of fighting the scourge of gender-based violence.”

The recent incident comes nearly two years after the passing of her beloved husband, Barry Steenkamp. Barry passed away in his sleep on 14 September 2023, reportedly from a broken heart.
In a statement shared by the foundation at the time, they stated, “We find solace in the knowledge that he is now with his beloved Reeva.”
Meanwhile, the family has extended their appreciation to generous givers who are looking to assist June during this difficult time.
