Recap of our favourite moments from Rocking the Daisies

Described as the largest music and lifestyle destination festival in Cape Town and arguably the country, the famous Rocking the Daisies returned for its 19th edition. It appears that the four-day festival delivered as promised, as attendees continue to gush over this past weekend’s shenanigans.

Long-time festival goers and those popping their Daisies cherries were treated to a plethora of fun and exciting activities. With this year’s theme being ‘In the stars, ‘ the event was the stuff of dreams, with attendees dressed to the nines, ready to take the festival by storm.

Like any festival, the music is an important aspect of the entire thing, and Rocking the Daisies is known to bring their A-game where their line-up is concerned. Their ability to curate the perfect vibe by correctly blending a good mix of local and international talent is second to none. This year, popular Swedish vocalist Snoh Aalegra was this year’s headliner, accompanied by Americans 6lack and Mick Jenkins.

Although all the performers gave their best and kept the crowd thoroughly entertained, it seems Snoh Aalegra stole the show, along with people’s hearts this time around.

Local artists such as Nasty C, Shekinah and Sun El Musician held their own and represented Mzansi very well, as we were all expecting.

Nigerian-born Ayra Star was also a fan favourite as the ‘Rush’ hit-maker delivered an unforgettable performance. Her stage presence captivated the audience, proving why she is one of the most exciting acts currently.

Rocking the Daisies has also built a name for themselves as one of the more exciting opportunities for fashion lovers to showcase their unique and extravagant styles. Similarly to the popular American festival, Coachella, Daisies has proven to be more than just a mere music festival, but also an opportunity for fashion that is deemed unusual or even inappropriate to be celebrated.

Furthermore, local brand Galxboy collaborated with the festival to bring attendees their first-ever outdoor fashion show, which added an exciting element to the festival.
