Reality TV star Vovo alleges cops told her to handle her own phone theft case

by Samantha Mochele

South African reality TV star Vuyokazi ‘Vovo’ Nguqu has claimed that police told her to search for her stolen cellphone on her own. In a recent revelation, Vovo expressed her shock and frustration after being instructed to take matters into her own hands.

According to Daily Sun, Vovo lost her cell phone while spending time with friends and her boyfriend at her Kleinvlei, Cape Town home on 6 July 2024. Distressed by the theft, she went to the Kleinvlei Police Station to report the incident and open a case.

However, the publication states that Vovo claimed that the police instructed her to find the person who stole her phone herself and to call them if she located the suspect. She was shocked and frustrated, questioning why, as she is not a police officer, and should not be responsible for investigating the theft.

“The police told me to go and look for the person who stole my phone myself. They further told me to call them if I found the suspect. I was so shocked. How can I look for a suspect when I’m not a cop? The police asked me to do something that was supposed to be done by them. That was shocking for me,” Vovo told Daily Sun.

In addition to her recent ordeal, Vovo is a beloved star of the reality series SHORT n Sweet featuring three little people with big hearts and even bigger dreams. The show airs on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161). Vovo is also known for her social media presence. The entertainer has faced ridicule for her petite stature and has used her condition to entertain and uplift the public. Her humorous videos, shared on Facebook, and Instagram, have become a source of joy for many.
