Rachel Kolisi reflects on international fundraiser for Kolisi Foundation

Even when abroad, Rachel and Siya Kolisi continue to show compassion and bring about change in underprivileged communities via their foundation.

The Kolisi Foundation was founded on the eve of the 2019 Rugby World Cup. As explained by the foundation, “Siya and Rachel sat in the hotel hallway and discussed their social responsibility following the influence they would gain by winning the Rugby World Cup – and so, the Kolisi Foundation was birthed through the desire to change the story of inequality.”

The Kolisi Foundation also aims to bring about systemic change through sport and education, addressing gender-based violence, and contributing to food security.

With the vision to change the stories of inequality in South Africa and the mission of uniting organisations to mobilise resources and strengthen infrastructure and learning, Rachel and Siya hosted a fundraiser in the United Kingdom at the Savoy Hotel in aid of the Kolisi Foundation.

Sharing snippets of the event on Instagram, Rachel reminisced, “I’m still in awe of what we (@kolisi_foundation) were able to achieve last week. We had our first real shot at a fundraiser in the UK and it was incredible!! A room at the @thesavoylondon filled with some of the most dynamic, interesting and intentional people, all together for a common cause.”

Noting that powerful things happen when people come together to achieve a common goal, the mother of two continued, “The dream is to always take our South African stories to the world. Still so much to do, and still so much to share. Thank you all for your continued support – forever grateful.”
