Women’s month would not be complete unless some of our top local change makers get honoured for the work they do in making our society a better place.
Mother of two, Rachel Kolisi, recently found herself on the receiving end of this stick as she was celebrated with a Women of Wonder Award at the eleventh annual installment of the prestigious award ceremony.
The Women of Wonder (WOW) Awards are Global Awards that take place in Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Mauritius, Dubai, Qatar, London and India.
The event celebrates womanhood, and through these awards, dreams to create a sisterhood of strong female voices to empower, enlighten and engage with society.
Someone who perfectly embodies what the event celebrates, Rachel has been one of the front-runners in driving social change and empowering those who are less fortunate.
In 2021, Rachel, in partnership with her ex-husband Siya Kolisi, co-founded the Kolisi Foundation. The organisation’s mission was to fight against gender-based violence while assisting women and children with support programmes.
Taking to her Instagram page, an overwhelmed Rachel expressed her appreciation for the opportunity she was afforded to celebrate alongside other impactful women.
“So incredibly grateful to have received an award from the Panache Women of Wonder Awards. It was such a beautiful evening, celebrating so many amazing people doing powerful work in SA,” she captioned.
