Queen Modjadji casting director in hot water for allegedly stealing R700K production fees

Former Scandal actress and casting director of Mzansi Magic drama series Queen Modjadji, Nolwazi Shange, could be facing legal battles as she faces charges of stealing R700k in production fees.

The drama series which captured the hearts of many viewers tells a historical story about a Limpopo Queen known as Queen Modjadji or Rain Queen, as people believed that she had abilities to control the rainfall and clouds, and has been making headlines since its release.

As internet users deal with the grappling effects of executive producer Duma Ka Ndlovu’s recent arrest on tax and fraud charges another member has also been roped in the drama.

As per reports by TimesLive, the show’s executive producer on alleged tax charges dating back to misrepresented tax numbers from 2016-2019.

It is alleged that co-accused Rodney Mutsharini and Maxwell Mloyi helped Duma with filing his taxes leading to him now owing SARS R19,2 million in taxes due to numbers being wrong.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share that Nolwazi was accused of stealing the show’s money whilst asking questions regarding the protocol absorbed allowing her to have access to that much money.

Actress and casting director Nolwazi Shange is accused of stealing R700k from the production of “Queen Modjadji”. @dailysunsa broke the news and confirmed that a case has been opened against the star.

Speaking to DailySun on the casting director’s charges, a close source said:

“Nolwazi worked on the set as a casting manager. She recruited agencies with extras, and after they had rendered their services, they were asked to send invoices. The different companies sent their invoices. She did something that wasn’t right, adding, “She changed the amounts and bank details so the money would go to another unknown company associated with her. People from the agencies went to Rhythm World demanding payment and claiming they were never paid. This was a surprise for the production company, so investigations were started, and they discovered what she had done.”
