Public outcry returns Chief Azwindini to Muvhango

by Bongiwe Mati

Muvhango soapie producers have proven to Mzansi that their viewers matter in their decision making. This is after they returned Gabriel Temudzani who plays Chief Azwindini after he was killed and burnt down in a shack by his cousin Tenda (played by Nathaniel Ramabulana) early last month.

When news of Chief Azwindini’s exit surfaced, Mzansi viewers were saddened with many stating that there was no Muvhango without Azwindini. Some even shared that they would not be able to watch the soapie without him in it.

Taking to his social media, Gabriel confirmed the rumours of being back on the soapie, highlighting the influence viewers have in big decisions made by producers of programmes like Muvhango.

He captioned his post:

“Indoda (a man) must have 9 lives…. Azwindini is back by popular demand Muvhango. Thanks to the public outcry ??????????. The viewers have power. #Muvhango#Azwindini.”

The Muvhango social media page also joined in on Gabriel’s post, adding, “Welcome back chief ?? #muvhango.”

To which Gabriel responded, “@muvhangosa like a prodigal son, home is home. Let the journey of telling compelling African stories continue. ??.”
