Themba Sekowe, professionally known by his alias DJ Maphorisa has worked extremely hard to become a household name in South Africa and outside of its borders. His longevity and consistency in the industry have become one of his defining superpowers, as he has produced banger after banger after banger throughout the years.

Although sometimes underrated, Maphorisa’s talent and knack for music are undeniable and have been evident in his songs, old and new alike. His involvement in the industry and empowering of new and upcoming artists has separated Madumane from his peers, as not many can say that on their way to the top, they were able to take a few artists along with them whether through collaboration or basic promotion.

Maphorisa’s involvement in the industry started off as more behind-the-scenes, however, as his confidence and popularity grew, the need for him to step into the spotlight became evident. Although his smash hit ‘Midnight Starring‘ catapulted him into the star we know and love today, his contributions to classic hit songs began way before that and this article will highlight some of those bangers.

This list consists of some of Mzansi’s classics from the early 2010s and contains a discography that could go toe-to-toe with any renowned producer. The songs mentioned below were either produced, co-produced or involved Lord Phory in some way, shape or form.

Although these timeless classics are some of his early works, the producer also has more recent smash hits that have made their way across the globe, giving the world a taste of South African culture and flavour.
