You never know how a casual comment might spiral, especially when one of Mzansi’s best-known DJs is involved. On 30 September 2025, Prince Kaybee (real name Kabelo Motsamai) found himself at the centre of an entertaining social media exchange that many are still talking about.

From Lunch Invite to Dinner Proposal

It all began when a user named @HlelO93 slid into his social feed, asking: “Can I take you out for lunch Kabelo?” Instead of a silent block or vague excuse, Kaybee delivered a line that caught people off guard: “I eat once a day, and it’s at night.”

That didn’t stop her. She followed up: “Can I take you out for Dinner Kabelo?” Then… nothing. No further reply. It seems that was the end of that thread.

What adds another twist: after being rejected (or at least ignored) by Kaybee, the same woman reportedly sent similar advances to Nota Baloyi and even Sizwe Dhlomo. Whether she believed in persistence or just saw multiple targets is unclear.

Mzansi’s Take: Memes, Shade, & “Witty Moves”

The responses were instantaneous and abundant. Twitter (or X) lit up.

  • One user quipped: “My Goat thinks we don’t see how he’s moving.”

  • Another joked: “The net has been cast; let’s see if it catches.”

  • Some wondered if the message was flirting in disguise: “You know what you’re doing, neh?”

  • Others speculated less innocently, hinting at more than lunch might have been implied.

What’s clear is that a simple interaction became fodder for jokes, shade, and endless memes across platforms.

Why This Moment Hits Hard

What’s fascinating here is not just celebrity drama; it’s human behaviour in digital form. When you’re famous, your boundaries are on display. Fans send DMs, followers tag you, and strangers flame your comments. Rejecting someone publicly has to balance tact and clarity. Kaybee’s response did that.

South Africa’s celebrity culture tends to oscillate between fan worship and perceived entitlement. Some believe that being a public figure means you owe access. But comments like these remind us that, even in our shared social media space, boundaries still matter.

And let’s not forget Kaybee’s past controversies, his admitted cheating scandals, and his online scandals with Cyan Boujee. These moments shape how fans interpret every new interaction. His refusal here might read to some as honest self-respect; to others, as coy or calculated.

Rejection That Doesn’t Burn Bridges

There’s something almost admirable about a refusal delivered with humour, clarity, and no nastiness. Too often, rejection either turns hurtful or evaporates into ghosting. In this case, Kaybee’s answer was definite but not cruel.

It also underscores a quieter shift: that celebrities must reclaim personal agency, even as they live in public. Saying “no” politely is itself a kind of strength, especially in a space built to erode privacy.

In a country that loves drama, this moment gave us more than gossip. It gave us something we rarely see: a refusal done right.
