President Cyril Ramaphosa recently embarked on a two-stop shopping spree in Cape Town, and TikTok couldn’t get enough of it.
Videos shared by two sharp-eyed shop assistants from different stores went viral, sparking a wave of humorous and curious reactions.
At the first stop, Incredible Connection at the V&A Waterfront, Fierdous Desai had the chance to assist the president.
He even complimented her on her excellent service, which she proudly shared on TikTok. The comments section didn’t disappoint, ranging from heartwarming to hilarious.
@user9710041219392: “Cupcake is the best president.”
@Chunky: “Incredible Connection—where humanity meets.”
@Sonini Nanini: “Amazing experience.”
@notimportant thought creatively: “You had to ask him to do a TikTok dance.”
And, of course, the Phala Phala scandal snuck its way in, with @German asking, “Did he use dollars to buy?”
At his second stop, Clicks, another employee managed to record four videos of her interaction with the president, captioning her post: “I was honoured to sarve (sic) the president today.”
The TikTok crowd once again had a lot to say: @Zwanani Mashabangu Dube asked the burning question: “Yes details please!! What did he buy? Did he use cash?”
 @MamaBear2.0 hit the big one: “Did he have his Clicks card? Did he swipe it? Points? Give us details maaan!”
 @Geline Tshuma was in full movie mode: “Did they close the shop like they do in the movies???”
 @Lindiwemtsweni123456 chimed in: “Coolest President ever…”
 @xamu reflected: “It is an honour, no matter what. We may not like him, but truth is, it is an honour to serve such a high-profile person.”
And @Delilah took things in a different direction: “I would have asked for money.”
From loyalty points to secret currency, President Ramaphosa’s casual shopping trip turned into an unforgettable event for the staff and the TikTok community.
