Limpopo born Thapelo Molomo wins Idols SA season 18.

The 29-year-old Warrant Officer from Mokopane could not believe it when he was announced as this year’s Idols winner.

Speaking to Minister Bheki Cele who was part of the audience at the finale, Thapelo said he could not give up on the gift he has and could not die without fulfilling it.

With this incredible win, Thapelo walks away with:

  • Just over R1-million cash
  • Access to a Standard Bank wealth manager
  • A Toyota Starlet
  • A fashion voucher from Truworths and his live show outfits
  • R85 000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha
  • A recording contract with Kalawa Jazmee Records.

Thapelo was up against the talented and loved Nozi Sibiya from KwaZulu-Natal.

As a runner-up, Nozi will not walk away empty handed. She takes home with her R50 000 in a Standard Bank MyMo account, a fashion voucher from Truworths and her live show outfits, R30 000 from Spotify and a recording contract with Kalawa Jazmee.

At the live finale, the audience and viewers were surprised with performances from all three judges including the host, Proverb.

The judges left their judging seats and painted the stage with incredible performances. JR performed with AKA, “Because I have not been to the gym in a while, I would rather be on the judging seat,” JR said.

It was then about time to listen to Boom Shaka as Thembi Seete performed with Theo. “Thank you for the love and support for all these years,” Thembi said after the showstopper performance.

Somizi “Somgaga” then performed with Proverb.

Thapelo has been showered with lots of love and congratulatory messages since.
