by Zintle Mdaka

Kwaito star Thulani Ngcobo popularly known as Pitch Black Afro recently spoke up about his sorrowful ordeal of losing his mother a week ago.

The Ntofontofo hitmaker’s mother, Geli Amelia Vilanculos Ngcobo died in his presence; at her house in Orlando East.

In an interview with the entertainment publication, TshisaLIVE, the artist expressed his gratitude for the time he got to spend with his mother after he was released from prison.

“My mother passed away in front of us, while we were listening to radio stories on Ukhozi FM. She asked us to put her on the couch as she was tired from standing, not knowing those were her last words. She was 82, I’ll always love her,” he said.

Following the passing of his wife, Catherine Modisane on the 13th of December in 2018; the artist has had a bumpy journey. This is after he was found guilty of culpable homicide on her death and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, of which five were suspended and he only served a total of three years behind bars.

The Never Let You Go rapper also mentioned that he was planning to release a song dedicated to his mother in August to celebrate Women’s month.

“My mother and my wife were everything to me and I was planning to record a song for my mother in August, as it’s Women’s month, but it wasn’t meant to be. She supported me in my trying times and stood tall for me while the country turned on me,” he added.
