While the online discussions thrown at podcaster and DJ, Mcgyver MacG Mukwevho, sparked controversy, many public figures took to their social media platforms to share their opinions; after media personality Minnie Dlamini broke her silence.
Podcaster, Penuel Lungelo Mlotshwa, popularly known as The Black Pen, was among those public figures. He took to his X (formerly Twitter) to share the pros and cons of the statement issued by Minnie.
Taking to his X page, Penuel listed the things he commended on the statement. He said he fully supports Minnie for standing up for herself, and he supports her for stating that the apology is not enough and is arguably insincere, because MacG’s insinuations about her have caused a public raucous and may damage her brand and her business associations.
He said he supports Minnie fully in wanting to engage legal recourse as she is aggrieved, and he stated clearly that he also believes that MacG was wrong and should have apologised before the public outcry. He also said that he believes monetary damages would also suffice if deemed fair legally.
However, he found an issue with the statement when Minnie said she is fighting for other women, too. Also, when she spoke about systemic misogyny, and referenced Podcast and Chill as such a platform.
Elaborating more on the issues he has with the statement, and acknowledging that she is well within her rights, Penuel asked: “Did she not consider that Itumeleng Khune is also a man, father, husband and son, when she repeatedly used him as entertainment fodder, for snide jokes, and did she not consider the feelings of her ex-husband, Mr Jones, and his loved ones when she tweeted about Thierry Henry coming to SA and how she was sad that her crush was coming to SA, right after she got married?
“Does she acknowledge that the entertainment and media space is also toxic to men, especially where women drag men, make fun of their personal lives, private parts, financial status, and create podcasts bashing men? Does she acknowledge that Podcast and Chill not only degrade women at times, but men too? They attack male celebrities arguably more than female celebrities. Maphorisa and Cassper Nyovest come to mind, as examples,” penned Penuel.
I have an issue with Minnie Dlamini’s statement released this week….

Let me start here:
– I fully support her standing up for herself.
– I fully support her stating that an apology is not enough, & is arguably insincere, because MacG’s vile insinuations… pic.twitter.com/lqr5ItFdxF
