TV and radio presenter Penny Lebyane has shocked her fans and listeners with her sudden resignation from her Radio 2000 show.

With a vibrant career spanning television and radio, she has captivated audiences with her charismatic presence and insightful commentary. Known for her high standards and unwavering principles, Penny has become a beloved figure in the broadcasting industry.

However, according to ZiMoja, it has now been revealed that Penny has officially resigned from the station.

An insider at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) disclosed to ZiMoja that Penny had immediately handed in her resignation, marking the end of her time at the station. “She did not go into detail in her letter, but it was with immediate effect,” the source said. “As you know, Penny doesn’t stand for anything that goes out of her high values. She is an amazing presenter and person, and she didn’t want to get into why she had to leave so abruptly,” added the source.

Initially, listeners assumed she was off sick when her timeslot had been filled by a stand-in.

The station has not confirmed her departure and has not responded to queries on the matter. A colleague mentioned to ZiMoja that she is dealing with some personal things hence she took some time off.

When contacted to confirm her reasons for leaving the station, Penny did not wish to discuss anything, as reported by the mentioned publication.

Penny has not only been a force in broadcasting but has also made significant strides in her personal life in 2024. She kicked off the year by committing to her fitness goals, sharing her journey on Instagram with the declaration, “We are not wasting time in #2024 strong will carry me and take me places.”
