Pearl Thusi became one of the trending topics on Twitter (now known as X) after photos of her and actor Sello Maake kaNcube in Zimbabwe wearing political party Zanu-PF scarfs started circulating.

The two actors attended the political party’s rally ahead of the Zimbabwean presidential elections happening soon. These photos were understood by many to mean that the two actors were in support of the 43 years in government political party, that has in the past been linked to atrocious acts and killings of white farmers.

In the photo, Pearl and Sello are seated in the front row with the President Emmerson Mnangagwa other dignitaries, all draped in Zanu-PF scarfs.

Pearl wasn’t the only one who caught fire, Tweeps expressed their disappointment in Sello, adding that they’ve lost respect for him.

Twitter handle Man’s NOT Barry Roux shared:

“Celebrities will sing any tune for supper. I Am disappointed that Sello Maake kaNcube & Pearl Thusi choose Emmerson Mnangagwa & ZANU PF that have displaced millions of Zimbabweans & resulted in an unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants into South Africa. Zimbabwe Wake up.”

More Tweeps shared:

Pearl Thusi made one of her worst decisions ever;
No honest international (regional) brand should ever be associated with Zanu PF & that scarf.

Sello Maake and Pearl Thusi owe each and every Zimbabwean who crossed the Limpopo River border to come to South Africa to hustle due to the political and economic situation in Zimbabwe.

Other Twitter users went hard on Sello, commenting:

A man who can take money to act a gay role on a tv show can do anything just to get paid including twerking for Zanupf with Pearl Thusi in Zimbabwe. #ZimElection2023 pic.twitter.com/YswLYSpdrD
