Papa Penny drops the ANC for Umkhonto Wesizwe

We are very close to the 2024 national elections that are set to take place on the 29th of this month and many people are starting to show support and campaign for their political parties.

One of those is said to be Limpopo-born musician Eric Kulani Giyani Nkovani famously known as Papa Penny.

The musician has reportedly dumped the African National Congress (ANC) which he proudly supported for many years, to a newly formed Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK), led by former president Jacob Zuma.

Papa Penny was not just an ANC supporter, he served a leading role in the party for many years and has worked as an ANC ward councillor at the Giyani Municipality.

The news of his move to MK party was shared by local publication ZiMoja after they briefly confirmed with the singer.

When asked, he responded:

“Yes, I have joined MK, but I cannot speak to the media without getting a permission from my leadership.”

The news also made its was to social media platform X, where many users commented on the matter.
