Radio broadcaster Pabi Moloi’s ex-husband accuses her of bribing a lawyer to cause the divorce process to slow down.

The former couple got married in April 2016 and had a child together. However, their divorce seems to be messy, as per reports by Sunday World. Ruan Adams alleged that his ex-wife paid his lawyer, Lutendo Siphuma from SL Attorneys, to drag out the divorce proceedings.

Ruan also demanded half of his ex-wife’s estate and R8 500 per month in spousal maintenance, according to the publication.

The above-mentioned source states that Lutendo had written a letter to Pabi’s law firm, where Lutendo says he would no longer be representing Ruan due to receiving death threats.

Lutendo wrote: “We have also been accused of having taken a bribe from your offices and/or from your client directly to stall the divorce process and/or the Rule 43 application, despite having fully communicated with Mr Adams that we need fees for counsel to proceed with trial as the matter is trial-ready.

“Due to his conduct, which we all can attest to, we find ourselves having to terminate our mandate as we cannot tolerate various threats and other accusations that keep coming from him and his unbecoming and continuous conduct that seriously jeopardise and disturb the attorney-client relationship,” adding that he would be pressing charges against Ruan.

As Ruan claims that they were married in a community of property, he demands almost half of the assets in their joint estate. Pabi, however, disputes this claim and insists that he is not entitled to that percentage as they were not legally married.

Online publication MDN News posted this on X (previously known as Twitter) where it received a mixed reaction from users given claims that the ex-husband wants spousal support.

The story always goes like: give her that 50% because we are equal when it favours women!

What’s the fuss now when Pabi has to pay?

Do we really believe in 50/50 as black folks?

Why’s the term “ex-hubby” everywhere here? When did we start doing that? ?
