Orlando Pirates fans call for Abongile Tom to stay ready to officiate Nedbank Cup final

After a dramatic and chaotic journey to the end, the Nedbank Cup final match-up has been set and will see the Soweto Giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates battling it out for the ultimate prize. Orlando Pirates fans have expressed hopes of their unofficial 12th man, Abongile Tom to be selected as the official to oversee matters.

The road to the Nedbank Cup final can be described as a tumultuous one, filled with a variety of unforgettable moments, both good and bad. After pulling off a relentless fight, and even tapping into their inner David to defeat the Goliath of South African football in Mamelodi Sundowns, head coach Naserine Nabi and his Kaizer Chiefs squad look to take on their neighbour, Orlando Pirates and put an end to their drought, bringing their first domestic trophy home since the 2-14-15 season.

Orlando Pirates’ journey, on the other hand, was a compelling mix of dominance and resilience, as Jose Riveiro’s squad came ready to defend their title from day one. Their hunger for utter domination and a historic three-peat appears to be driving the Buccaneers, as they have displayed their scoring prowess, as well as their resilience to grind out challenging wins. Their standout players, such as Patrick Maswanganyi, Rele Mofokeng and Sipho Chaine, have pulled off clutch performances for the squad, enabling them to cruise through to the Soweto derby final, which will be hosted in the one and only Moses Mabhida stadium.

As each team prepares for the final clash,  fans, more likely Orlando Pirates fans have revealed that they will be crossing their fingers tightly, hoping and praying that Abongile Tom, who has garnered a reputation for favouring the Buccaneers over other PSL teams, will be selected as the chosen official who will be overseeing the highly anticipated match-up.
