Olorato’s murder suspect gunned down in blazing shootout

One of the main suspects in the murder of Olorato Mongale was shot dead by police during a shootout in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, early Friday morning.

According to The Citizen, the unidentified man allegedly opened fire on officers who were tracking him down.

“The main suspect in the killing of Olorato , who was killed and dumped on the side of the road at Lombardy in Johannesburg, Gauteng province, was shot and fatally wounded in a shootout with police in the Amanzimtoti area in KwaZulu-Natal.

“He allegedly opened fire on police officers who were trying to locate him, after intensified efforts overnight,” the report quoted police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda as saying.

Police had intensified efforts to locate him overnight.

Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has confirmed that a second person has been taken in for questioning in connection with the murder of Olorato.

The woman in question is the mother of a suspect who allegedly warned her son that police were looking for him.

A day earlier, the father of a suspect was also questioned, and his car was linked to the crime.

Nhlanhla stated that the investigation remains sensitive, and police are actively tracking the main suspects.
