Oh Tamara, the mastermind that you are! – TikToker confessed to scamming her followers

After garnering the internet’s attention with her content that panders to the male gaze, TikTok user Tamara has taken to social media to reveal the scam behind her campaign.

Those of us who are chronically online are already up-to-date with the Tamara, and know exactly what’s going on. However, for those of you who have been living under a rock, let me fill you in. This complicated matter dates back to the beginning of the year, when Tamara’s account started to gain traction, as her opinions garnered either strong support or backlash.

On one end, users condemned Tamara and labelled her content damaging and dangerous, as she referred to single mothers as valueless, among other things. However, on the other end, many users, particularly men felt seen and heard by Tamara whose content pandered to them.

Due to her strong stance, internet users initiated a campaign to encourage as many people as possible to donate funds to Tamara, to show appreciation for the work she has done for South African men. This idea materialised into a success as it is reported that Tamara received approximately R60 000 in donations.

However, things appeared to have taken a turn for the worst when some of Tamara’s biggest supporters and advocates turned against her and started bad-mouthing the creator. Tamara then announced that she would be going live to set the story straight and clear up any discrepancies in the story being told to the public.

During the live, Tamara revealed that idea to initiate the campaign to donate money to her came to her through a TikTok user named Siya Myeza, to which she agreed. According to Tamara, Siya pitched the idea to plant the seed to donate on people’s minds, and hope that it would pick up, to which it did.  As the donations continued to pour in, it became apparent to Tamara that Siya was after the money, which is when things turned sour.

It is clear that matters between Tamara and Siya are currently sour, as Siya has been made the scapegoat of this whole operation that has angered Tamara’s supporters. These users express frustration over being lied to and deceived by Tamara and Siya by encouraging them to donate, knowing their ulterior motives of wanting to back the money for themselves.

As expected, those who opposed Tamara have been visibly excited by the news that Tamara scammed her audience, as they had been warning her supporters of such dangers. Tamara has been hailed as a mastermind who played with gullible men.
