Ntsiki Mazwai asks followers for donations to cover legal expenses

by Sergio Miller

Renowned poet and social activist Nstiki Mazwai is seeking all the help she can get as she recently turned to some of her loyal social media followers to assist her with donations to cover her legal expenses.

Nstiki has a bill of R200 000 to pay after she lost a defamation case against musician Euphonik. She had taken to the social media platform X in 2020 alleging that the prominent DJ was a rapist.

Her actions soon came with consequences, as a 2022 court ruling favoured the “Step Up” hitmaker, with the judge later ordering her to pay the legal expenses.

Taking to X, Ntsiki said that with her birthday fast approaching, she believed that the timing was perfect for her to start collecting her “blessings”.

“You saw my business being splattered in the streets. I’m going to put my email address on here. Anybody who wants to donate to the legal bills, I’m going to put my email address there,” Ntsiki said.

She promised her followers that the money would go directly towards paying her legal fees, but also provided them with the option of making a direct payment themselves and forwarding the proof of payment once the transaction has been complete.

In recent years, she has admitted to facing financial troubles and even wrote a letter to Euphonik expressing her sincerest apology. With the Covid-19 panadmic causing even more financial strain, Citizen News reports that she later asked the DJ to have mercy on her.

She has since remained positive with her latest outcry and assured her fans that no matter how small their contribution, it will make a difference.

“We’re going to pay bit by bit and continue living our lives, continue building the MOYA podcast, continue building Nontsikelelo Mazwai, the future president of South Africa,” she concluded.

Good morning….its my birthday on 3 September….may I start collecting blessings🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️thank you to everyone in the DMs for the endless support. To the big sisters who send me money to get massages to make me feel better. I appreciate you so much. You know who you are. Thank you pic.twitter.com/2nTO0sK3At
