A video of a Zimbabwean prison inmate who happily declared that he is living his best life in a South African prison caused an uproar on social media platforms, with many calling for the Department of Correctional Services to respond to the video.

In the video, the prisoner who was chilling with others with his earphones on both his ears shared, “Hello haters, you put us in prison and you think we are suffering? No! My brother, we are doing extremely fine, look how happy we are.”

Detailing what their day entails he shared, This morning we had breakfast and in the afternoon we had lunch and we had supper. We are about to have dinner. We are doing extremely fine. We are not even suffering at all.”

The inmate who is clearly happy to have escaped responsibilities added, “We are not paying rent, we are not buying electricity, we don’t cook food, they cook for us. We don’t need toiletries, we get them for free and the education is going to be free in prison, if you think we are suffering no my brother, you are very wrong.”

The video clearly reached the officials as he was later recorded in a video with his lips swollen as if he was beaten up. Asked to repeat his words, the inmate finished off by saying, “Now they found me, they catch me, now I’m suffering.”
