Norman Nhlapo reflects on the highs and lows after Big Brother Mzansi

Norman Nhlapo, a former Big Brother Mzansi (BBM) season three competitor, has talked candidly about the difficulties of navigating life after the show.

In an Instagram post, the exceptionally talented Norman wrote, “Coming from a show like Big Brother doesn’t make breaking into the industry easy—especially without a fan base or one of those ‘groups’ backing you.”

For him, the process involved overcoming personal conflicts and navigating new opportunities. ”It affects you emotionally, physically, and psychologically. Because everything seems connected to clout, you begin to question yourself”, he added.

Norman also appreciates the experience’s personal development despite the difficulties. “I loved my time on the show, but I hated what it did to my confidence and mental health. Still, it made me stronger.” After BBM, he was forced to examine himself critically, identify his abilities, and change his perspective.

It makes sense for the entrepreneur to find it difficult to adjust to a world that had changed while he was living in the BBM house and that you have to put forth a lot of effort to support yourself and also at the same time knowing that even though the fame is all great, you still have this fear of not being “relevant” anymore.

However, he is now concentrating on embracing his multifaceted identity. “I am not only a performer. I can be an entrepreneur, a brand liaison, or anything else I choose to be. You can be, too. He pleaded, “Stop sleeping on yourself.” Norman no longer seeks approval from the industry because he believes in his own value: “What’s meant for me will always find its way.”

Norman has also set some goals for the new year, in a birthday post on January 1st, he wrote, “2025 is about stepping out of my comfort zone and pushing even further. It’s about recognizing that while the road ahead won’t always be easy, the lessons I’ve learned from my village roots to life in the city have prepared me to keep going.”
